La cat\u00e9gorie reine est alors le MX1 et cette toute nouvelle cat\u00e9gorie a la particularit\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque d&rsquo;opposer des machines 4-temps et des 250 2-temps. C&rsquo;est d&rsquo;ailleurs au guidon d&rsquo;une Suzuki RM 250 que Micha\u00ebl Pichon, vainqueur deux semaines plus t\u00f4t du GP d&rsquo;ouverture de la saison \u00e0 Belpuig, en Espagne, donne la r\u00e9plique \u00e0 la Yam 4-temps de Stefan Everts. Un duel auquel se m\u00eale une autre Suzuki 2-temps, celle de Kevin Strijbos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notons qu&rsquo;\u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, depuis 2001, les GP se d\u00e9roulent sur une seule manche par cat\u00e9gorie. Un format particulier qui avait d&rsquo;ailleurs pouss\u00e9 Everts \u00e0 s&rsquo;aligner \u00e9galement en 125cc afin de se pr\u00e9parer pour sa manche MX1. Le champion belge avait m\u00eame pouss\u00e9 la d\u00e9marche un peu plus loin sur le dernier GP de la saison. D\u00e9j\u00e0 titr\u00e9, il avait relev\u00e9 le d\u00e9fi de s&rsquo;aligner la m\u00eame journ\u00e9e sur les 3 cat\u00e9gories alors en lice : 125cc, MX1 et 650cc. Un exploit en soi.
