Jeffrey Herlings restera d\u00e9finitivement l’homme fort de la passionnante saison qui vient de s’achever ce mercredi \u00e0 Mantova. Bless\u00e9 sans avoir chut\u00e9 chez lui \u00e0 Oss alors qu’il \u00e9tait en train de monter en puissance, il n’a pas tard\u00e9 \u00e0 signer l’un de ces retours \u00e9clairs dont il a le secret. Jusqu’\u00e0 revenir dans le sillage des leaders Tim Gajser et Romain Febvre. Arriv\u00e9 avec 3 points de retard sur le Fran\u00e7ais \u00e0 Mantova, il ne laissera aucune chance \u00e0 son adversaire, signant la journ\u00e9e parfaite pour s’emparer avec panache du titre mondial MXGP.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s 3 titres MX2, Jeffrey Herlings avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 remport\u00e9 une couronne MXGP en 2018 au terme d’une saison qu’il avait domin\u00e9e de fa\u00e7on outrageuse. Bless\u00e9 en 2019 puis en 2020 et incapable de d\u00e9fendre ses chances dans la course au titre, il a donc pris hier une belle revanche sur le sort, malgr\u00e9 une saison une fois de plus mouvement\u00e9e et loin d’\u00eatre facile pour le Hollandais.<\/p>\n

Ce deuxi\u00e8me titre dans la cat\u00e9gorie reine du motocross mondial est donc le cinqui\u00e8me d’Herlings. Un palmar\u00e8s qui lui vaut de rejoindre le club tr\u00e8s ferm\u00e9 des quintuples champions du monde de motocross, lesquels sont d\u00e9sormais au nombre de… cinq. Ce sont en fait quatre Belges que rejoint Herlings : Roger De Coster, Georges Job\u00e9, Eric Geboers et Jo\u00ebl Smets.<\/p>\n

Seuls trois pilotes comptent aujourd’hui davantage de titres mondiaux : Jo\u00ebl Robert (6 titres), Antonio Cairoli (9 titres) et Stefan Everts (10 titres).
