Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton et Justin Cooper ont offert ce dimanche un 23\u00e8me succ\u00e8s aux USA sur le Motocross des Nations. Sous la pluie de RedBud, les 3 hommes remportent haut la main le classement final de la 75\u00e8me \u00e9dition de la course la plus attendue de la saison devant la France et l’Australie. L’Italie et la Belgique compl\u00e8tent le top-5.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les Etats-Unis ne s’\u00e9taient plus impos\u00e9s sur le Motocross des Nations depuis 11 ans, quand Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey et Blake Baggett avaient remport\u00e9 une \u00e9dition m\u00e9morable de l’\u00e9preuve sur la piste de Saint-Jean-d’Ang\u00e9ly, en France. Depuis, les prot\u00e9g\u00e9s de Roger De Coster, pourtant largement recordmen de victoires sur le MX des Nations avec \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque 22 succ\u00e8s (contre 16 \u00e0 la Grande-Bretagne ou 15 \u00e0 la Belgique) n’\u00e9taient plus jamais parvenus \u00e0 repartir avec le fameux Troph\u00e9e Chamberlain.<\/p>\n

Souvent loins de se battre pour la victoire ou m\u00eame pour le podium ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, on pensait que les USA se d\u00e9sint\u00e9ressaient de l’\u00e9preuve, qu’on finirait par ne plus jamais y voir leurs meilleurs repr\u00e9sentants. Cette ann\u00e9e, avec les deux hommes forts de la saison outdoor Eli Tomac et Chase Sexton ainsi que l’adversaire le plus dangereux \u00e0 la r\u00e9guli\u00e8re pour Jett Lawrence cet \u00e9t\u00e9 en 250cc, Justin Cooper, les Am\u00e9ricains arrivaient sur leurs terres, devant leur public, avec tous les atouts dans leur jeu pour briller et reconqu\u00e9rir ce Troph\u00e9e qui leur \u00e9chappait depuis si longtemps.<\/p>\n

Pari r\u00e9ussi pour le trio manag\u00e9 par De Coster. Les trois hommes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 constamment aux avant-postes dans les 3 manches et s’offrent une victoire franche devant une solide \u00e9quipe fran\u00e7aise avec un tr\u00e8s rapide Marvin Musquin sur la petite 250, un solide Dylan Ferrandis, malchanceux avec une chute en deuxi\u00e8me manche, et un Maxime Renaux qui cl\u00f4ture la journ\u00e9e en beaut\u00e9 en s’offrant le luxe de devancer Jett Lawrence et Chase Sexton dans la 3\u00e8me manche opposant pilotes MXGP et Open ! Avec 3 points de plus, l’Australie des fr\u00e8res Lawrence associ\u00e9s \u00e0 Mitch Evans compl\u00e8te le podium.<\/p>\n

La journ\u00e9e a d\u00e9marr\u00e9 en fanfare pour le clan belge avec la superbe seconde place de Jago Geerts dans la premi\u00e8re manche MXGP\/MX2, seul homme capable de garder Eli Tomac en ligne de mire, et la tr\u00e8s belle 12\u00e8me place de Liam Everts au guidon de sa 250 SX-F. Avec ces deux r\u00e9sultats, la Belgique se pla\u00e7aient d’embl\u00e9e parmi les favoris en occupant le 3\u00e8me rang provisoire.<\/p>\n

Les 13 et 14\u00e8mes places de Van Horebeek et d’Everts dans la manche OPEN\/MX2 faisaient r\u00e9trograder la Belgique en 5\u00e8me position, un rang que notre pays conservera \u00e0 l’issue de la 3\u00e8me manche qui se solde par une 11\u00e8me place pour Geerts, auteur d’une belle remont\u00e9e apr\u00e8s une chute dans le premier virage, et une 12\u00e8me pour Van Horebeek. La chute de Geerts co\u00fbte certainement la 4\u00e8me place \u00e0 la Belgique puisque les n\u00f4tres terminent \u00e0 un petit point des tenants du titre, les Italiens, qui se contentent donc \u00e0 RedBud de terminer au pied du podium.<\/p>\n

L’an prochain, le 76\u00e8me Motocross des Nations se disputera sur la piste d’Ern\u00e9e, en France.<\/p>\n
