Jeffrey Herlings a remport\u00e9 ce dimanche matin les deux manches du GP de Chine. Le pilote hollandais signe ainsi \u00e0 Shanghai la 112\u00e8me victoire en GP de sa carri\u00e8re. Ni Romain Febvre ni Lucas Coenen, les deux derniers candidats au titre mondial MXGP, ne montent sur l’avant-dernier podium de la saison.<\/p>\n

M\u00eame s’il ne monte pas sur le podium en Chine, Romain Febvre peut avoir le sourire. Alors qu’il vient d’assurer deux quatri\u00e8mes places dans les manches \u00e0 Shanghai, son rival Lucas Coenen n’a pour sa part pas pu se battre au niveau qui est le sien. Seulement 9\u00e8me en premi\u00e8re manche apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00fb laisser filer ses adversaires, il chutait au d\u00e9part de la seconde pour repartir tr\u00e8s attard\u00e9 et se lancer dans une remont\u00e9e qui le m\u00e8nera en 14\u00e8me position.<\/p>\n

Douzi\u00e8me seulement du GP, notre jeune compatriote abandonne pas moins de 17 points suppl\u00e9mentaires \u00e0 Romain Febvre ce dimanche, de quoi permettre au Fran\u00e7ais d’arriver en Australie le week-end prochain avec un avantage de 47 points sur son rival. Bref, Febvre touche d\u00e9sormais du bout des doigts un second titre mondial MXGP (10 ans apr\u00e8s le premier !), titre qu’il pourrait \u00eatre en mesure de s’assurer d\u00e8s la manche qualificative du GP de Darwin samedi prochain.<\/p>\n

Romain Febvre touche un second titre mondial du bout des doigts…<\/p><\/div>\n

Les favoris pour le titre \u00e9taient-ils nerveux ce dimanche en Chine ? C\u2019est possible, car ils n\u2019ont pas brill\u00e9 au d\u00e9part de la premi\u00e8re manche. Celui-ci a \u00e9t\u00e9 domin\u00e9 par Maxime Renaux, Jeffrey Herlings, Pauls Jonass et Tim Gajser. Romain Febvre, parti cinqui\u00e8me, s\u2019est imm\u00e9diatement fait attaquer et d\u00e9passer par Rub\u00e9n Fernandez, puis un peu plus tard par Glenn Coldenhoff.<\/p>\n

Lucas Coenen n\u2019est parti qu\u2019en milieu de peloton. Mais gr\u00e2ce au d\u00e9part h\u00e9sitant de Febvre, il a pu recoller au Fran\u00e7ais. Tous deux se sont rapidement retrouv\u00e9s derri\u00e8re Coldenhoff. En une seule man\u0153uvre, le N\u00e9erlandais s\u2019est fait doubler \u00e0 la fois par Febvre et Coenen, qui se sont alors battus pour les 6e et 7e places. Pendant ce temps, Jago Geerts \u2013 apr\u00e8s avoir accroch\u00e9 quelqu\u2019un au d\u00e9part \u2013 remontait depuis l\u2019arri\u00e8re du peloton pour entrer dans les points.<\/p>\n

Renaux a conserv\u00e9 la t\u00eate. Il ne creusait pas l\u2019\u00e9cart, mais n\u2019\u00e9tait pas non plus attaqu\u00e9 par Herlings ou Gajser. Devant, Jonass a d\u00fb c\u00e9der du terrain. Entre-temps, Febvre est mont\u00e9 en rythme et a repris la 5e place \u00e0 Fernandez. Coenen, lui, a d\u00fb l\u00e2cher prise \u2013 avait-il un souci ? Renaux a eu une grosse frayeur en \u00e9vitant de justesse un pilote tomb\u00e9 devant lui.<\/p>\n

Tim Gajser monte sur la seconde marche du podium du GP devant son co\u00e9quipier Ruben Fernandez.<\/p><\/div>\n

Puis est arriv\u00e9 le moment dramatique pour Coenen. Incapable de suivre Febvre, il a subi les attaques de Coldenhoff, qui l\u2019a doubl\u00e9. Peu apr\u00e8s, Andrea Bonacorsi a \u00e9galement pris le dessus sur notre compatriote. \u00c9tait-ce le tournant du championnat MXGP 2025 ?<\/p>\n

\u00c0 cinq minutes de la fin, Herlings est revenu sur le leader Renaux. Au m\u00eame moment, Febvre et Fernandez profitaient d\u2019une erreur de Jonass pour passer devant lui.<\/p>\n

Port\u00e9 par tout le public chinois pr\u00e9sent \u00e0 Shanghai, Herlings a rejoint Renaux et, avec deux attaques somptueuses, a mis le Fran\u00e7ais KO. C\u2019\u00e9tait le Herlings des grands jours ! Renaux semblait avoir craqu\u00e9, puisqu\u2019il s\u2019est aussi fait d\u00e9passer peu apr\u00e8s par Tim Gajser. Une d\u00e9monstration qui rappelait que ces deux-l\u00e0, sans blessures, auraient \u00e9t\u00e9 de s\u00e9rieux candidats au titre. Avec sa 4e place, Febvre voyait ses chances de titre grandir encore. Pendant ce temps, Lucas Coenen encaissait six points suppl\u00e9mentaires\u2026<\/p>\n

Jago Geerts a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 limiter la casse et termine finalement 15e.<\/p>\n

Au moment de prendre le d\u00e9part de la seconde manche, Lucas Coenen savait qu\u2019il devait tout donner pour garder une infime chance de titre. Avant le d\u00e9part, il comptait 36 points de retard sur Romain Febvre. Il s\u2019est battu avec brio, allant au contact avec Jeffrey Herlings et Tim Gajser pour la t\u00eate de course, avant de chuter. Il repartira 21\u00e8me\u2026<\/p>\n

Herlings menait devant Gajser, avec Febvre en troisi\u00e8me position, suivi de Rub\u00e9n Fernandez et Calvin Vlaanderen. Ce dernier s\u2019est cependant fait d\u00e9passer imm\u00e9diatement par Mattia Guadagnini. Vlaanderen a r\u00e9pliqu\u00e9 aussit\u00f4t et, dans la foul\u00e9e, Guadagnini a aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 pass\u00e9 par Andrea Bonacorsi. Jago Geerts \u00e9tait bien plac\u00e9, en 8e position, et le pilote belge de Balen allait rapidement doubler Guadagnini.<\/p>\n

Lucas Coenen a sans doute abandonn\u00e9 en Chine ses derni\u00e8res chances de devancer Febvre dans la course au titre… Mais quelle superbe premi\u00e8re saison MXGP pour notre compatriote !<\/p><\/div>\n

Un petit temps mort s\u2019est install\u00e9, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que Fernandez recolle \u00e0 Febvre. On ne sait pas ce qui l\u2019a pouss\u00e9, mais il s\u2019est montr\u00e9 aussi agressif qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque de son passage en MX2. Surpris, Febvre n\u2019a pas beaucoup r\u00e9sist\u00e9. Avec ce d\u00e9passement pour la 3e place, Rub\u00e9n se pla\u00e7ait provisoirement sur le podium.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s ce mano a mano, le rythme s\u2019est un peu calm\u00e9 et rien n\u2019a chang\u00e9 pendant plusieurs tours. Geerts s\u2019est n\u00e9anmoins rapproch\u00e9 de Bonacorsi. Devant, Gajser manquait d\u2019un petit quelque chose en vitesse pour vraiment inqui\u00e9ter Herlings.<\/p>\n

Pour Coenen, la course s\u2019annon\u00e7ait compliqu\u00e9e. Apr\u00e8s 8 tours, il n\u2019\u00e9tait que 14\u00e8me. Une contre-performance dont on ne lui tiendra pas rigueur, loin de l\u00e0 : il a offert aux fans belges un \u00e9t\u00e9 exceptionnel.<\/p>\n

Revenons \u00e0 l\u2019avant. Gajser a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 se glisser dans l\u2019aspiration de Herlings. Mais dans un virage, il a commis une erreur et a d\u00fb repartir \u00e0 la chasse. Ce contretemps lui a co\u00fbt\u00e9 cher, comme s\u2019il avait perdu son souffle : il n\u2019est pas parvenu \u00e0 revenir sur Herlings.<\/p>\n

Geerts, qui avait retrouv\u00e9 sa hargne, a attaqu\u00e9 Bonacorsi. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, Maxime Renaux, pourtant brillant vainqueur de la premi\u00e8re manche, \u00e9voluait jusque-l\u00e0 dans l\u2019anonymat \u00e0 la 8e place. Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que tous deux acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent. Beau moment : Geerts et Renaux ont doubl\u00e9 Bonacorsi, les deux Yamaha boys occupant alors la 6e et la 7e place. Renaux terminera finalement 6e, juste devant Jago. Febvre, lui, n\u2019\u00e9tait pas encore certain de conserver la 4e place, car Vlaanderen revenait peu \u00e0 peu. Mais le Fran\u00e7ais a tenu bon et a sans doute fait un pas d\u00e9cisif vers le titre.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 quelques tours de la fin, Gajser a retrouv\u00e9 un second souffle. Il savait qu\u2019avec une victoire de manche, il pouvait aussi d\u00e9crocher le succ\u00e8s au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral. Mais l\u2019attaque ultime n\u2019est jamais venue, et Herlings a remport\u00e9 les deux courses. \u201cThe Bullet\u201d s\u2019impose donc logiquement au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, devant les deux pilotes Honda, Gajser et Fernandez.<\/p>\n

Romain Febvre n\u2019est pas mont\u00e9 sur le podium. Mais il compte d\u00e9sormais 47 points d\u2019avance sur Coenen. Il pourrait m\u00eame \u00eatre titr\u00e9 d\u00e8s les qualifications \u00e0 Darwin. Son sourire s\u2019\u00e9tendait de Shanghai jusqu\u2019aux Vosges\u2026<\/p>\n

Petit d\u00e9tail : en Chine, le protocole habituel du podium a \u00e9t\u00e9 modifi\u00e9. Le public n\u2019\u00e9tait pas autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 se tenir devant le podium. Autre continent, autres r\u00e8gles…<\/p>\n
