Romain Febvre approche d\u00e9sormais de ses 34 ans. Pourtant, il est \u00e0 la veille d\u2019un exploit historique : dix ans apr\u00e8s son premier titre mondial, le pilote Kawasaki est sur le point de d\u00e9crocher une deuxi\u00e8me couronne en MXGP. Un titre qui serait le premier pour Kawasaki dans la cat\u00e9gorie reine.<\/p>\n

Febvre peut entrer dans l\u2019histoire ce week-end lors du GP d\u2019Australie \u00e0 Darwin. Avec ses 47 points d\u2019avance sur Lucas Coenen, il a m\u00eame de grandes chances d\u2019\u00eatre sacr\u00e9 d\u00e8s le samedi.<\/p>\n

D\u2019outsider \u00e0 champion du monde<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s une lourde blessure au genou, Romain est revenu au motocross par le biais du supermotard. Ce retour lui a offert en 2011, alors qu\u2019il approchait de ses 20 ans, le titre EMX250. Trois ans plus tard, en 2014, il se battait d\u00e9j\u00e0 aux avant-postes du championnat du monde MX2 avec l’\u00e9quipe Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna.<\/p>\n

Le Vosgien, au temp\u00e9rament pos\u00e9, a souvent surpris. En tant que rookie du mondial MXGP, il s\u2019est empar\u00e9 du titre mondial en 2015 avec Yamaha ! Quinze manches remport\u00e9es et huit victoires en GP ont mis en lumi\u00e8re sa domination. La marque aux trois diapasons semblait avoir trouv\u00e9 son nouveau prodige. Le coriace Febvre, sa technique de virage en glisse et la YZ450F semblaient faits l\u2019un pour l\u2019autre.<\/p>\n

Romain F\u00e8bvre est devenu champion du monde MXGP en 2015 avec Yamaha au terme de sa premi\u00e8re saison dans la cat\u00e9gorie reine.<\/p><\/div>\n

Les blessures et des soucis de mise au point ont ensuite frein\u00e9 son \u00e9lan. Apr\u00e8s plusieurs saisons d\u00e9cevantes, \u201cRF\u201d a retrouv\u00e9 de la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 en 2020 avec Kawasaki, o\u00f9 il devint le co\u00e9quipier de Cl\u00e9ment Desalle. Dans la structure KRT dirig\u00e9e par Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, il trouva l\u2019environnement id\u00e9al. Un an plus tard, Romain se battait encore pour le titre jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la derni\u00e8re manche \u00e0 Trentino, avant que Jeffrey Herlings ne s\u2019impose.<\/p>\n

Victime d\u2019une double fracture de la jambe sur le SX de Paris avant la saison 2022, Febvre n\u2019a pu revenir qu\u2019en fin d\u2019ann\u00e9e. Un vrai coup dur pour l\u2019\u00e9quipe IceOne de Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen et Antti Pyrh\u00f6nen, qui faisait alors ses d\u00e9buts en tant qu\u2019\u00e9curie officielle Kawasaki.<\/p>\n

Mais Romain et son \u00e9quipe ont travaill\u00e9 d\u2019arrache-pied durant l\u2019intersaison. Apr\u00e8s un \u00e9norme travail de d\u00e9veloppement, la KX450 est devenue une arme en 2023. Ressuscit\u00e9, Febvre a termin\u00e9 vice-champion du monde. Une blessure au pouce l\u2019a ensuite priv\u00e9 de la lutte pour le titre en 2024, mais le Fran\u00e7ais a tout de m\u00eame d\u00e9croch\u00e9 huit podiums.<\/p>\n

French connexion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kawasaki et les pilotes fran\u00e7ais, c\u2019est un peu comme le fromage et le vin : une combinaison naturelle. S\u00e9bastien Tortelli (1996, 1998), Micka\u00ebl Maschio (2002) et Christophe Pourcel (2006) ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 sacr\u00e9s champions du monde avec la marque verte. Le seul non-Fran\u00e7ais titr\u00e9 avec Kawasaki reste Stefan Everts en 1995.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mais si Febvre parvient \u00e0 d\u00e9crocher ce titre, ce sera une grande premi\u00e8re pour la firme de Kobe : jamais Kawasaki n\u2019a remport\u00e9 la couronne supr\u00eame en MXGP. Ce serait \u00e9galement une premi\u00e8re pour son partenaire pneumatique Dunlop, qui poursuit ce r\u00eave depuis longtemps.<\/p>\n

Autre fait marquant : bien qu\u2019il ait d\u00e9j\u00e0 remport\u00e9 quatre fois le Motocross des Nations avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe de France, Febvre ne l\u2019a fait qu\u2019une seule fois sur Kawasaki (2023). Qui sait, 2025 pourrait bien devenir une ann\u00e9e exceptionnelle, avec une nouvelle victoire au MXoN aux \u00c9tats-Unis en octobre prochain ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
