Yamaha Motor Europe a officialis\u00e9 ce lundi la fin de sa collaboration avec Jago Geerts, marquant ainsi la conclusion d\u2019un partenariat couronn\u00e9 de succ\u00e8s entam\u00e9 il y a huit ans.<\/p>\n

Notre compatriote avait fait ses d\u00e9buts professionnels en 2018 au sein de l\u2019\u00e9quipe Kemea Yamaha, dirig\u00e9e par Hans Corvers. Pour sa premi\u00e8re saison en MX2, Geerts s\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 illustr\u00e9 en terminant huiti\u00e8me du championnat et en d\u00e9crochant le titre honorifique de Rookie of the Year. L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, il signait sept podiums et une victoire de manche, concluant la saison avec la m\u00e9daille de bronze mondiale.<\/p>\n

Entre 2020 et 2023, Geerts s\u2019est impos\u00e9 comme l\u2019un des pr\u00e9tendants r\u00e9guliers au titre MX2 sur la YZ250FM d\u2019usine. Durant cette p\u00e9riode, il a remport\u00e9 45 manches, d\u00e9croch\u00e9 55 podiums et s\u2019est offert quatre titres de vice-champion du monde. \u00c0 l\u2019issue de la saison 2023, apr\u00e8s avoir atteint la limite d\u2019\u00e2ge de la cat\u00e9gorie, il rejoignait naturellement la cat\u00e9gorie reine MXGP avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, issue de la structure Kemea.<\/p>\n

Sa premi\u00e8re saison en MXGP, en 2024, a malheureusement \u00e9t\u00e9 perturb\u00e9e par une grave blessure au coude contract\u00e9e lors de l\u2019\u00e9preuve d\u2019ouverture. D\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 rebondir, Geerts a retrouv\u00e9 sa pleine forme en 2025, signant une saison compl\u00e8te sur la 450 cm\u00b3. Parmi les faits marquants, on retiendra sa premi\u00e8re victoire en course qualificative lors du MXGP d\u2019Espagne \u00e0 Lugo, ainsi qu\u2019une sixi\u00e8me place au classement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral et une quatri\u00e8me position en manche lors du Grand Prix de Lettonie \u00e0 Kegums.<\/p>\n

En huit saisons sous les couleurs Yamaha, Jago Geerts a compil\u00e9 un palmar\u00e8s impressionnant : 105 top 3 en manche, 55 podiums, 24 victoires de Grand Prix et cinq m\u00e9dailles mondiales MX2. Un bilan qui t\u00e9moigne pleinement de son talent et de sa constance au plus haut niveau.<\/p>\n

Dans le communiqu\u00e9 publi\u00e9 ce lundi, Yamaha Motor Europe a tenu \u00e0 remercier chaleureusement Geerts pour son engagement et ses performances remarquables :<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Ce fut un v\u00e9ritable plaisir de travailler avec Jago durant ces huit ann\u00e9es, d\u00e9clare Alexandre Kowalski, manager du d\u00e9partement Off-Road Racing chez les Bleus. \u00ab\u00a0Nous avons vu ce jeune rookie devenir un pilote d\u2019exception, capable de rivaliser avec les meilleurs. Ensemble, nous avons c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 24 victoires de Grand Prix et cinq m\u00e9dailles mondiales. Son passage sur la 450 a \u00e9t\u00e9 sem\u00e9 d\u2019emb\u00fbches en raison de blessures, mais il n\u2019a jamais cess\u00e9 de se battre.
