Sur le sable cribl\u00e9 d’orni\u00e8res d’Almonte, Lucas Coenen a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un week-end parfait. Qualifications, manche 1, manche 2 : le Belge de KTM a tout rafl\u00e9, s’imposant avec une autorit\u00e9 qui a laiss\u00e9 ses adversaires sans r\u00e9ponse. R\u00e9sultat : notre compatriote troque son num\u00e9ro de course contre la plaque rouge de leader du championnat du monde MXGP, une premi\u00e8re dans sa carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re manche s’annon\u00e7ait \u00e9lectrique. Tom Vialle (Honda) avait arrach\u00e9 le holeshot et menait devant Coenen et un Jeffrey Herlings l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sorti de piste au d\u00e9part, mais sans d\u00e9g\u00e2ts. Jago Geerts, lui, \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 condamn\u00e9 \u00e0 remonter apr\u00e8s une chute au premier virage.<\/p>\n

Le sc\u00e9nario allait pourtant basculer d\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res minutes. Coenen s’empara de la t\u00eate, Herlings d\u00e9borda Vialle pour le chasser \u2014 et le Belge r\u00e9pondit imm\u00e9diatement par un chrono le plus rapide du tour pour creuser l’\u00e9cart. Apr\u00e8s vingt minutes, il avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 15 secondes d’avance. La course \u00e9tait pli\u00e9e. Herlings, Febvre et Vialle roulaient en cort\u00e8ge derri\u00e8re, impuissants. Tim Gajser, lui, bataillait ferme pour d\u00e9passer Adamo, n’y parvenant qu’au 15e tour pour finir 6e. Renaux d\u00e9passa Vialle dans le final pour s’adjuger la 4e place.<\/p>\n

Au drapeau \u00e0 damier : Coenen, Herlings \u00e0 20 secondes, puis les trois Fran\u00e7ais Febvre, Renaux et Vialle.<\/p>\n

Manche 2 : le drame Febvre, la maestria Coenen<\/strong><\/p>\n

La deuxi\u00e8me manche d\u00e9buta sur un autre sc\u00e9nario de d\u00e9part \u2014 l’Espagnol Oriol Oliver en t\u00eate, suivi d’Adamo et Coenen \u2014 mais le r\u00e9sultat fut identique. Le Belge prit rapidement les commandes et installa une avance confortable de dix secondes sur Herlings. Derri\u00e8re, Tim Gajser montait en puissance et partait \u00e0 l’attaque du champion du monde en titre Romain Febvre. Le contact entre les deux fut fatal pour le Fran\u00e7ais, qui chuta lourdement et dut abandonner \u2014 une d\u00e9convenue majeure dans la course au titre pour le pilote Kawasaki.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Avec huit minutes au compteur, l’ordre \u00e9tait Coenen, Herlings, Gajser, Adamo, Vialle, Vlaanderen. Coenen, lui, ne commit pas la moindre erreur. Il g\u00e9ra, contr\u00f4la, et franchit la ligne avec 16 secondes sur Herlings. Parfait, tout simplement.<\/p>\n

La plaque rouge pour la premi\u00e8re fois<\/strong><\/p>\n

Au classement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la journ\u00e9e, Coenen totalise 50 points sur 50 possibles. Au provisoire, il compte d\u00e9sormais 102 unit\u00e9s contre 94 pour Herlings, qui reste son principal rival. Tom Vialle (89 pts) et un Febvre amoindri par son abandon compl\u00e8tent le top 4.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

La symbolique est forte : Lucas Coenen va pouvoir apposer la plaque rouge sur sa KTM pour la prochaine manche. Une premi\u00e8re dans sa jeune carri\u00e8re en MXGP, qui confirme sa mont\u00e9e en puissance et fait de lui le favori annonc\u00e9 pour le titre mondial.<\/p>\n

Rendez-vous la semaine prochaine en Suisse, o\u00f9 l’\u00e9tau belge devrait continuer \u00e0 se resserrer.<\/p>\n
