Si la journ\u00e9e andalouse appartenait \u00e0 Lucas Coenen en MXGP<\/a>, la cat\u00e9gorie MX2 a elle aussi r\u00e9serv\u00e9 son lot de surprises et d’histoire. Le Sud-Africain Camden McLellan a sign\u00e9 une victoire de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence sur le sable d’Almonte, offrant du m\u00eame coup \u00e0 la marque britannique Triumph sa toute premi\u00e8re victoire en Grand Prix. Un moment historique, doubl\u00e9 d’une prise de pouvoir au championnat du monde.<\/p>\n

C’est l’Espagnol Guillem Farres qui avait ouvert le bal en s’imposant dans la premi\u00e8re manche, devant un McLellan omnipr\u00e9sent et Simon L\u00e4ngenfelder (KTM). Sacha Coenen, lui, avait connu un d\u00e9but de course difficile et ne pointait qu’\u00e0 la septi\u00e8me place, \u00e0 plus de 40 secondes du vainqueur. Liam Everts (Husqvarna), autre repr\u00e9sentant belge dans la cat\u00e9gorie, terminait sixi\u00e8me dans une manche solide.<\/p>\n

Manche 2 : Sacha Coenen prend les commandes\u2026 avant de se faire d\u00e9border<\/strong><\/p>\n

La seconde manche fut nettement plus anim\u00e9e. L\u00e4ngenfelder s’empara du holeshot, mais Sacha Coenen n’attendit pas la deuxi\u00e8me courbe pour prendre la t\u00eate. McLellan, parti troisi\u00e8me, remonta m\u00e9thodiquement sur Valerio Lata pour s’installer en deuxi\u00e8me position, puis lan\u00e7a son offensive sur le Belge. L’attaque fut propre et d\u00e9cisive : McLellan passa, s’envola et ne fut plus jamais inqui\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Coenen conserva sa deuxi\u00e8me place jusqu’au drapeau, \u00e0 4 secondes du vainqueur, devant L\u00e4ngenfelder. Farres, vainqueur de la premi\u00e8re manche, abandonna sur probl\u00e8mes m\u00e9caniques, offrant ainsi \u00e0 McLellan une victoire encore plus nette au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la journ\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

McLellan en rouge, Coenen dans la course<\/strong><\/p>\n

Avec un score de 2-1, McLellan s’impose logiquement au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la journ\u00e9e avec 47 points, devant L\u00e4ngenfelder (40 pts) et Sacha Coenen (36 pts). Le Sud-Africain s’empare \u00e9galement de la plaque rouge du championnat avec 99 points, deux longueurs devant L\u00e4ngenfelder (97). Farres reste troisi\u00e8me avec 80 unit\u00e9s malgr\u00e9 son abandon, tandis que Sacha Coenen pointe au quatri\u00e8me rang avec 78 points \u2014 \u00e0 port\u00e9e de canon.<\/p>\n

Liam Everts, septi\u00e8me au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la journ\u00e9e avec 29 points, occupe la septi\u00e8me place du provisoire mondial avec 74 unit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 noter enfin une belle anecdote en marge de la comp\u00e9tition : la wildcard n\u00e9erlandaise Lotte Van Drunen, engag\u00e9e en WMX, a d\u00e9croch\u00e9 un point au championnat du monde face aux hommes du MX2.<\/p>\n

Rendez-vous la semaine prochaine en Suisse, o\u00f9 McLellan d\u00e9fendra sa plaque rouge face \u00e0 un L\u00e4ngenfelder et un Coenen qui n’ont pas dit leur dernier mot.<\/p>\n
