L’\u00e9dition 2014 du Mondial Junior a permis aux Etats-Unis de reconduire le titre acquis l’an pass\u00e9 en R\u00e9publique Tch\u00e8que. Sur un circuit qui est rest\u00e9 en excellent \u00e9tat tout le week-end malgr\u00e9 une m\u00e9t\u00e9o pour le moins capricieuse, la d\u00e9l\u00e9gation US n’a pourtant pas remport\u00e9 le moindre titre individuel, ni m\u00eame la moindre manche. On peut donc parler ici de v\u00e9ritable travail d’\u00e9quipe pour un team particuli\u00e8rement consistant face \u00e0 des adversaires de tr\u00e8s haut vol.<\/p>\n

Brian Hsu a ajout\u00e9 ce week-end un titre mondial \u00e0 son palmar\u00e8s !<\/p><\/div>\n

46 nations (un record) \u00e9taient en lice \u00e0 Lierneux ce week-end dans la plus prestigieuse des comp\u00e9titions r\u00e9serv\u00e9es aux jeunes pilotes. 120 pilotes (40 par cat\u00e9gorie) s’\u00e9taient qualifi\u00e9s le samedi pour les manches finales disput\u00e9es ce dimanche. En 65cc, le titre mondial revient \u00e0 l’Australien Jett Lawrence, vainqueur de la premi\u00e8re manche avant de terminer deuxi\u00e8me derri\u00e8re le Japonais Jo Shimoda, auteur d’un impressionnant cavalier seul, dans la seconde.<\/p>\n

Belles prestations de Jago Geerts<\/strong><\/p>\n

En 85cc, le Finlandais Kim Savaste quitte Lierneux avec le titre mondial en poche. Troisi\u00e8me puis deuxi\u00e8me dans les manches, il laissait les victoires \u00e0 l’Australien Caleb Grothues puis au Danois Mikkel Haarup mais s’imposait au classement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa r\u00e9gularit\u00e9. Savaste avait termin\u00e9 3\u00e8me du championnnat d’Europe 85cc remport\u00e9 par notre compatriote Jago Geerts il y a tout juste un mois. La Belgique avait donc toutes les raisons de nourrir de s\u00e9rieuses ambitions dans la cat\u00e9gorie mais c’\u00e9tait sans compter sur la blessure notre jeune compatriote, survenue dans un motocross en Hollande tout juste 2 semaines avant Lierneux. Clavicule fractur\u00e9e, Geert a roul\u00e9 \u00e0 Lierneux sans prendre de risques et s’est n\u00e9anmoins offert de belles manches. Mal parti dans la premi\u00e8re, il revenait jusqu’en 5\u00e8me position, avant de rater \u00e0 nouveau son d\u00e9part dans la seconde et de chuter dans sa remont\u00e9e pour \u00e9chouer \u00e0 une 10\u00e8me place finale. De quoi lui permettre d’occuper n\u00e9anmoins le 5\u00e8me rang dans la hi\u00e9rarchie de ce Mondial Junior dans la cat\u00e9gorie 85cc.<\/p>\n

Sur un circuit au sol tr\u00e8s dur, Cyril Genot n’a pas sign\u00e9 les r\u00e9sultats que l’on attendait de lui. Malgr\u00e9 les pr\u00e9cieux conseils de Jo\u00ebl Smets…<\/p><\/div>\n

Moins de r\u00e9ussite en revanche pour nos pilotes dans la cat\u00e9gorie 125cc, o\u00f9 l’on attendait Cyril Genot. Mais ce sont finalement Nolan Cordens (31+17) et Nathan Renkens (26+19) qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 nos meilleurs repr\u00e9sentants dans la cat\u00e9gorie. Sur un circuit dur qui ne convenait visiblement pas \u00e0 son pilotage, Genot n’a jamais trouv\u00e9 le bon rythme et s’est pour sa part content\u00e9 d’une 29\u00e8me puis d’une 23\u00e8me place, ne marquant donc aucun point.<\/p>\n

Le titre mondial est quant \u00e0 lui revenu \u00e0 l’Allemand Bryan Hsu. D\u00e9j\u00e0 sacr\u00e9 champion d’Europe 125cc une semaine plus t\u00f4t \u00e0 Lommel, le pilote Suzuki a remport\u00e9 les 2 manches \u00e0 Lierneux. Il s’impose au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral devant le suprenant V\u00e9n\u00e9zu\u00e9lien Gilberto Locurcio (3+2) et le Su\u00e9dois Alvin \u00d6stlund, sacr\u00e9 pour sa part vice-champion d’Europede la cat\u00e9gorie \u00e0 Lommel le week-end pass\u00e9.<\/p>\n
