Annonc\u00e9 en avril dernier<\/a>, le retour de Chad Reed en Europe alimente depuis les conversations dans le paddock MXGP comme sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux. L’Australien disputera en tant que pilote invit\u00e9 les deux prochains GP, en Angleterre puis en Italie, avec pour principale ambition de retrouver un championnat et des fans europ\u00e9ens qu’il a quitt\u00e9s il y a 15 ans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

L’Australien n’a disput\u00e9 qu’une seule saison en Europe mais cela a suffi pour que le jeune prodige du team Kawasaki De Groot, 19 ans \u00e0 peine, marque l’histoire du motocross mondial. Champion d’Australie de Supercross \u00e0 deux reprises en 1999 et en 2000, Reed r\u00eave du championnat am\u00e9ricain. Mais l’Europe appara\u00eet alors comme un passage oblig\u00e9 afin d’esp\u00e9rer attirer l’attention des teams US. Durant l’hiver 2000, il d\u00e9barque donc sur le vieux continent avec l’ambition de s’y faire un nom en devenant, pourquoi pas, champion du monde. Pari presque r\u00e9ussi pour le jeune Australien qui cr\u00e9e la surprise sur le championnat 250 en pla\u00e7ant sa Kawasaki officielle sur la deuxi\u00e8me marche finale, derri\u00e8re un certain Micha\u00ebl Pichon. Si Pichon revient pour sa part d’une carri\u00e8re aux USA, Reed s’envole sans attendre outre-Atlantique o\u00f9 le team Yamaha of Troy lui tend les bras. L\u00e0 aussi, il surprend tous les favoris en dominant le championnat c\u00f4te Est.<\/p>\n

Chad Reed est venu en Europe \u00e0 de nombreuses reprises dans le cadre du MXDN.<\/p><\/div>\n

Un titre 125cc en poche, il monte d\u00e8s 2003 dans la cat\u00e9gorie reine du Supercross US. Huit victoires ne suffiront pas \u00e0 l’Australien pour voler le titre \u00e0 Ricky Carmicha\u00ebl, champion pour 7 petits points seulement ! Le succ\u00e8s sera pour 2004, ann\u00e9e durant laquelle Skippy accompli d\u00e9finitivement son r\u00eave de remporter le championnat SX le plus prestigieux de la plan\u00e8te. Une performance qu’il r\u00e9\u00e9ditera en 2008. Il a remport\u00e9 pas moins de 44 victoires aux USA et, \u00e0 34 ans, vient de terminer le championnat SX 2016 \u00e0 la 5\u00e8me place.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir quitt\u00e9 la structure Yamaha Factory pour cr\u00e9er son propre team, toujours avec Yamaha, en 2007, Reed a ensuite rejoint Suzuki puis Kawasaki (aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Ryan Villopoto), avant de cr\u00e9er la structure Two Two Motorsports avec le soutien de Honda en 2011. Une structure qui a disparu avec le retour de l’Australien chez Yamaha cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Disposant d’un contrat \u00ab\u00a0SX Only\u00a0\u00bb avec Yamaha, Reed a saisi l’opportunit\u00e9 pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 l’invitation de Monster Energy. A 34 ans, il prend ce retour, l’espace de deux week-ends, tr\u00e8s \u00e0 coeur. Il b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiera pour l’occasion du soutien des structures factory de Yamaha Europe. \u00ab\u00a0J’ai un esprit de comp\u00e9tition et je veux bien faire les choses\u00a0\u00bb, confie-t-il. \u00ab\u00a0Je sais que le rythme sera \u00e9lev\u00e9 et je suis l\u00e0 avant tout pour prendre du plaisir, rencontrer mes fans europ\u00e9ens et revoir beaucoup de t\u00eates connues, beaucoup d’amis de longue date.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Je suis vraiment impatient d’arriver \u00e0 Matterley Basin ! C’est tr\u00e8s excitant de retrouver le championnat MXGP apr\u00e8s autant d’ann\u00e9es. Je suis souvent venu pour le Motocross des Nations, je sais donc \u00e0 quoi m’attendre. De plus, je regarde chaque round du championnat ! Les gars ici sont en pleine saison, ils roulent \u00e0 100% pour le moment. Pour ma mart, ma saison SX est d\u00e9j\u00e0 termin\u00e9e depuis le mois de mai. Je ne suis pas dans les conditions id\u00e9ales, pas aussi \u00e0 l’aise sur la moto que ce que j’aurais voulu, mais je sens que nous allons passer deux excellents week-ends en Angleterre et en Italie !\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0En 15 ans, beaucoup de choses en chang\u00e9…Quand je suis venu en Europe en 2001, il y avait seulement 3 cat\u00e9gories qui ne disputaient chacune qu’une seule manche !\u00a0\u00bb, ajoute le pilote australien.<\/p>\n

Chad Reed sera ce week-end au d\u00e9part du 11\u00e8me round du championnat MXGP \u00e0 Matterley Basin puis disputera \u00e9galement le GP d’Italie le week-end suivant \u00e0 Mantova.<\/p>\n
