Jeffey Herlings a remport\u00e9 ce dimanche le 16\u00e8me GP de la saison dans la cat\u00e9gorie MX2. Devant son public, le Hollandais a renou\u00e9 avec le succ\u00e8s dans le sable de la piste artificielle d’Assen.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Convalescent apr\u00e8s une fracture de la clavicule encourue sur la finale du championnat de Hollande \u00e0 Halle, Herlings a manqu\u00e9 les 3 derniers GP et a vu son avance au classement provisoire du championnat mondial MX2 fondre comme neige au soleil. Enfin de retour, l’officiel KTM s’est rassur\u00e9 en s’offrant une victoire qui lui permet de conserver 76 points d’avance sur Jeremy Seewer, seulement 14\u00e8me \u00e0 Assen aujourd’hui, avant de s’envoler pour les USA pour les GP de Charlotte et Glen Helen.<\/p>\n

Une premi\u00e8re manche \u00e0 rebondissements<\/h5>\n

Quelle premi\u00e8re manche ! Sur un circuit \u00e0 peine remis des violents orages qui se sont abattus sur Assen en fin de matin\u00e9e, les pilotes MX2 ont d\u00e9gust\u00e9. Dans un sable lourd et des orni\u00e8res encore gorg\u00e9es d’eau, tout le monde y est all\u00e9 de sa petite chute… ou presque. Car Thomas Covington est lui parvenu \u00e0 \u00e9viter les tous les pi\u00e8ges. L’Am\u00e9ricain a d’abord vu devant lui Jorge Prado mener la course. Mais l’Espagnol n’a pas r\u00e9sist\u00e9 longtemps et c’est ensuite Beno\u00eet Paturel qui a dirig\u00e9 les d\u00e9bats durant quelques tours avant de partir \u00e0 la faute. Le Fran\u00e7ais r\u00e9trograd\u00e9 en 5\u00e8me position, c’est le jeune Britannique Adam Sterry qui prenait le relai avant de chuter de fa\u00e7on spectaculaire quelques minutes plus tard.<\/p>\n

Thomas Convington remporte \u00e0 Assen la premi\u00e8re manche de sa carri\u00e8re !<\/p><\/div>\n

Covington h\u00e9rite alors du leadership et le pilote Husqvarna ne le quittera plus pour franchir le drapeau \u00e0 damiers avec 21 secondes d’avance sur le leader du championnat et favori du public hollandais Jeffrey Herlings. Mal positionn\u00e9 sur la grille suite \u00e0 son abandon hier dans la manche qualificative, l’officiel KTM est parti dans le peloton et les conditions de course ne l’ont pas aid\u00e9 dans sa remont\u00e9e. D\u00e9j\u00e0 revenu 3\u00e8me \u00e0 mi-course, il chutait en devait \u00e0 nouveau revenir de la 5\u00e8me position pour pr\u00e9c\u00e9der sur la ligne d’arriv\u00e9e son compatriote Brian Bogers. Lars van Berkel terminait 4\u00e8me juste devant Beno\u00eet Paturel.<\/p>\n

Mal parti, Nathan Renkens a men\u00e9 une course intelligente dans laquelle le pilote Falcon KTM est revenu de la 30\u00e8me \u00e0 la 16\u00e8me place. Brent Van Doninck partait par contre plusieurs fois \u00e0 la faute et ne pouvait pr\u00e9tendre \u00e0 mieux qu’une 22\u00e8me position.<\/p>\n

Prado sur le podium<\/h5>\n

Sur un circuit plus sec mais extr\u00eamement creus\u00e9, Jorge Prado remettait le couvert dans la seconde manche en partant en t\u00eate. Mais cette fois, l’Espagnol a derri\u00e8re lui Jeffrey Herlings. L’ogre de la cat\u00e9gorie mettre 8 tours \u00e0 faire plier le jeune Prado. Celui-ci s’accroche \u00e0 la seconde place et parvient \u00e0 contenir Brian Bogers qui souffle la 3\u00e8me place \u00e0 Max Anstie dans les derniers instants de course.<\/p>\n

Covington a par contr\u00e9 chut\u00e9 au d\u00e9part. L’Am\u00e9ricain ne reviendra que 16\u00e8me et ne monte donc pas sur le podium final sur lequel triomphe Jeffrey Herlings devant son compatriote Brian Bogers et le prometteur Jorge Prado.<\/p>\n

Brent Van Doninck signe un beau retour de la 17\u00e8me \u00e0 la 9\u00e8me place, juste derri\u00e8re Vaessen et Bernardini.<\/p>\n
