Pauls Jonass est devenu ce dimanche le premier pilote de motocross letton \u00e0 remporter un titre mondial. Sur la piste de Villars-sous-Ecot, rendue tr\u00e8s d\u00e9licate par la boue, l’officiel KTM a pu se contenter d’une 5\u00e8me place dans la premi\u00e8re manche pour s’assurer du titre MX2. Le Suisse Jeremy Seewer se contente donc du titre de vice-champion tandis que c’est le Danois Thomas Kjer Olsen qui termine sa premi\u00e8re saison mondiale sur la 3\u00e8me marche du podium. Julien Lieber place quant \u00e0 lui sa KTM priv\u00e9e au 6\u00e8me rang de la hi\u00e9rarchie mondiale.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les conditions \u00e9taient particuli\u00e8rement difficiles au moment de prendre le d\u00e9part de la premi\u00e8re manche MX2 ce dimanche \u00e0 Villars-sous-Ecot. Pauls Jonass esp\u00e9rait pouvoir mettre sans attendre la fin de l’apr\u00e8s-midi un terme au suspens dans la course au titre mondial mais il allait aussi devoir composer avec un circuit rendu pi\u00e8geux par la boue. L’officiel KTM en faisait d’ailleurs les frais tr\u00e8s rapidement puisque, parti devant, il s’\u00e9talait d\u00e8s les premiers virages dans la boue pour repartir bon dernier. Dans une course o\u00f9 seuls six pilotes termineront dans le m\u00eame tour que le vainqueur Thomas Covington, Jonass revient jusqu’\u00e0 la 5\u00e8me place. De quoi coiffer sans attendre sa premi\u00e8re couronne mondiale.<\/p>\n

Pauls Jonass s’est assur\u00e9 du titre mondial MX2 ce dimanche en France.<\/p><\/div>\n

Un titre qui vient compl\u00e9ter un palmar\u00e8s d\u00e9j\u00e0 riche pour le pilote letton. En 2011, Jonass avait en effet enlev\u00e9 la couronne mondiale en 85cc avant de remporter le championnat EMX125 deux ans plus tard. Il fait son entr\u00e9e dans la cat\u00e9gorie MX2 en 2014 et devient d\u00e8s 2015 vice-champion du monde sous l’\u00e9gide de Stefan Everts. Apr\u00e8s une ann\u00e9e 2016 contrari\u00e9e par une blessure, il est revenu plus fort que jamais cette ann\u00e9e pour dominer de bout en bout la saison MX2 face \u00e0 un Jeremy Seewer qui se sera battu jusqu’au bout.<\/p>\n

Deuxi\u00e8me de la premi\u00e8re manche, le Suisse ne termine la seconde qu’en 5\u00e8me position et laisse le dernier podium de la saison \u00e0 l’Am\u00e9ricain Thomas Covington devant les Australiens Hunter Lawrence (4+1) et Jed Beaton (3+4).<\/p>\n

Sixi\u00e8me de la premi\u00e8re manche, Julien Lieber \u00e9tait aux portes du top-5 dans les premiers instants de l’ultime manche de la saison avant de devoir renoncer. Nathan Renkens profite quant \u00e0 lui des conditions difficiles de la premi\u00e8re manche pour s’offrir les points de la 13\u00e8me place.<\/p>\n
