Le p\u00e8re fondateur de la marque Honda avait en effet annonc\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 60 que jamais Honda ne produirait de machines deux-temps. Contre toute attente, Honda l\u2019a pourtant fait. Et la marque a saisi \u00e0 pleine main ce nouveau march\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Honda a introduit cette gamme 2-temps tout-terrain relativement tard. Le premier mod\u00e8le, la CR125M doit son nom aux \u00e9preuves disput\u00e9es \u00e0 Lake Elsinore, en Californie, immortalis\u00e9es dans le film \u00ab\u00a0On Any Sunday\u00a0\u00bb, avec entre autres Steve McQueen. La CR125M a fait son apparition en 1971 au Japon, alors comme prototype. La premi\u00e8re s\u00e9rie n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s mais cela n\u2019a pas emp\u00each\u00e9 la machine de recevoir pas mal d\u2019attention de la presse.<\/p>\n<h5>L&rsquo;effet d&rsquo;une bombe<\/h5>\n<p>Un an plus tard arrivaient quelques machines 250cc. Durant l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 1973, les premiers mod\u00e8les de production \u00e9taient chez les dealers. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, ceux-ci \u00e9taient d\u00e9j\u00e0 des mod\u00e8les 1974. Ils \u00e9taient\u2026 gris et vert. Ils ont fait l\u2019effet d\u2019une bombe. Essentiellement en 250cc o\u00f9 la Elsinore se montrait particuli\u00e8rement performante. En 1975, les machines s\u2019habillaient de gris et de rouge et c\u2019est \u00e0 partir de 1976 que les bouillantes Honda deux-temps devenaient enti\u00e8rement rouges. Voil\u00e0 l\u2019origine du surnom que Honda devait recevoir plus tard\u00a0: Big Red.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Pilot\u00e9es par les plus grands<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>C\u2019\u00e9tait aussi le d\u00e9but d\u2019une v\u00e9ritable dynastie Honda qui existe encore aujourd\u2019hui dans le monde du motocross. Les Elsinore ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pilot\u00e9es par tous les plus grands noms du motocross de l\u2019\u00e9poque. Quelques exemples\u00a0? Johnny O\u2019Mara, Danny Laporte, Brad Lackey, Andr\u00e9 Malherbe, Graham Noyce, pour ne citer qu\u2019eux. Le timing de Honda \u00e9tait parfait. Dans les ann\u00e9es septante, les circuits de motocross ont fait leur apparition un peu partout, le sport se d\u00e9veloppait rapidement et retenait toujours plus d\u2019attention. Noyce, Malherbe, Thorpe, Job\u00e9, Geboers et Bayle ont offert \u00e0 la CR la plupart des titres mondiaux de l\u2019\u00e9poque.\u00a0 C\u2019\u00e9tait aussi les d\u00e9buts du \u2013 entretemps devenu l\u00e9gendaire- HRC.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019appellation CR ne s\u2019applique depuis plus seulement aux machines de cross de Honda mais aussi \u00e0 certains mod\u00e8les routiers comme la CRF1000L Africa Twin et la CRF250L. Honda s\u2019est aussi rapproch\u00e9 de la philosophie du d\u00e9but, celle de Soichiro Honda, en poursuivant son succ\u00e8s gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des moteurs quatre-temps. Mais les bases du succ\u00e8s de la marque en tout-terrain reposent pourtant bien sur les \u00e9tonnantes CR125M et CR 250M Elsinore vertes et grises.
