Davi Millsaps a annonc\u00e9 aujourd’hui son retrait de la sc\u00e8ne professionnelle. Le pilote Yamaha n’a pas encore 30 ans mais met fin \u00e0 une carri\u00e8re en supercross et motocross longue de pr\u00e8s de 15 ans \u00e0 la suite d’une chute survenue cet hiver et dont il ne parvient pas \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer pleinement. C’est en fait une tr\u00e8s s\u00e9rieuse commotion c\u00e9r\u00e9brale qui est \u00e0 l’origine des soucis du champion US. Celle-ci le handicape encore aujourd’hui au point qu’il ne lui est plus possible d’envisager poursuivre la comp\u00e9tition au plus haut niveau.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Apr\u00e8s de r\u00e9cents examens avec mon neurologue, nous en sommes arriv\u00e9s, ma famille et moi, \u00e0 la conclusion que le moment \u00e9tait venu pour moi de me retirer de la comp\u00e9tition\u00a0\u00bb, explique Millsaps. \u00ab\u00a0C’est une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 encore difficile \u00e0 accepter pour moi aujourd’hui. La saison 2018 s’annon\u00e7ait pour le mieux, nous travaillions tr\u00e8s dur pour tout mettre en place. Puis cette chute d’octobre dernier a tout chamboul\u00e9. C’est fou comme les choses peuvent changer rapidement ! C’est avec beaucoup de tristesse que je dois quitter le sport pour lequel j’ai tant donn\u00e9. J’ai pratiquement grandi sur le circuits, \u00e0 chasser mon r\u00eave…\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Davi Millsaps avait notamment remport\u00e9 la Monster Energy Cup en 2016. Avant cela, il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 titre sur la c\u00f4te est en 2006 dans la cat\u00e9gorie SX Lites.<\/p>\n

Part 1 After 14 years as a professional Supercross and Motocross racer, today, I announce my retirement from racing. Obviously, this was not an easy decision for me to make. Before the crash that I sustained back in October, I felt great while on the bike, and I was looking forward to an awesome 2018 season with my team, Monster Energy\/Knich\/Yamaha Factory Racing. Everything was falling perfectly into place: my training, my fitness, and the bike. I had high expectations for the 2018 Supercross season. Then, the unexpected happened and life changed so fast. I was sent to the ICU with a major concussion, bleeding in and around my brain, and a shattered elbow, along with being bruised and banged up pretty much all over. After months of recovery and consulting with my neurologist and family, we came to the difficult decision that it was time for me to retire from racing. I say this with great sadness, and this is definitely not how I wanted to end my career. But health is a priority. When the doctor told me that he couldn’t release me due to the risk that another impact on my head could be life-altering, not to mention life-threatening, it was pretty tough news for me to swallow. The reality of retirement was very hard to face. It brings out a bag of so many mixed emotions. It saddens me greatly to have to go out like this. I have given so much of my life to this sport. I basically grew up on a track chasing my dream.<\/a><\/p>\n
