D\u00e9\u00e7u par la sixi\u00e8me place ramen\u00e9e l&rsquo;an pass\u00e9 de RedBud avec J\u00e9r\u00e9my Van Horebeek et Cl\u00e9ment Desalle, le pilote Yamaha s&rsquo;\u00e9tait jur\u00e9 de tout donner pour hisser la Belgique sur le podium. Quelques semaines apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9croch\u00e9 le bronze sur le mondial MX2 \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue du GP de Shanghai, le prot\u00e9g\u00e9 de Steve Ramon revient d&rsquo;Assen avec au cou une m\u00e9daille d&rsquo;argent acquise de haute lutte dans un sable hollandais charg\u00e9 d&rsquo;eau et d\u00e8s lors extr\u00eamement exigeant, pour les hommes comme pour les machines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La pole sign\u00e9e samedi par l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe belge mettait \u00e9videmment Geerts et ses co\u00e9quipiers en pleine confiance au moment d&rsquo;entrer dans le vif du sujet dimanche. H\u00e9las, la Belgique jouait son joker d\u00e8s la toute premi\u00e8re manche de la journ\u00e9e. Alors \u00e0 une excellente 11\u00e8me position au guidon de sa Yam 250 face aux pilotes MXGP et \u00e0 leurs 450, Geerts \u00e9tait victime en fin de course d&rsquo;ennuis m\u00e9caniques. \u00ab\u00a0Ce probl\u00e8me m\u00e9canique qui m&rsquo;a contraint \u00e0 abandonner la premi\u00e8re manche est \u00e9videmment malheureux. Mais c&rsquo;est la course\u00a0\u00bb, commente Jago Geerts.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab\u00a0Le week-end n&rsquo;aurait pas pu mieux se passer pour nous !\u00a0\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Cela ne m&rsquo;a pas emp\u00each\u00e9 de me reconcentrer rapidement sur la deuxi\u00e8me course de la journ\u00e9e. Je m&rsquo;y suis montr\u00e9 le meilleur pilote MX2. Franchement, cela n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 une course facile. Pourtant, je ne suis pas convaincu que le fait de rouler avec une 250 face aux 450 ait \u00e9t\u00e9 un r\u00e9el handicap. Dans les conditions que nous avons rencontr\u00e9es ce week-end, c&rsquo;\u00e9tait surtout une question de technique et de choix de trajectoires. Cela me convenait bien, en fait ! M\u00eame le fait d&rsquo;\u00eatre plac\u00e9 tout \u00e0 l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur sur la grille de d\u00e9part ne constituait pas \u00e0 mon sens un handicap. L&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur me semblait en effet vraiment tr\u00e8s humide et tr\u00e8s meuble.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Franchement, je pense que le week-end aurait difficilement pu mieux se passer pour nous\u00a0\u00bb, poursuit le pilote Kemea Yamaha. \u00ab\u00a0Nous avions comme objectif de monter sur le podium et je suis donc tr\u00e8s heureux que nous ayons pu atteindre cet objectif \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 duquel nous \u00e9tions pass\u00e9s l&rsquo;an dernier.\u00a0\u00bb La Belgique n&rsquo;\u00e9tait plus mont\u00e9e sur le podium du MX des Nations depuis 2015. C&rsquo;\u00e9tait en France, \u00e0 Ern\u00e9e.
